Midnight on Brandon Avenue of Brandon

A quick oil sketch of a window view on Brandon Avenue at midnight when the crescent moon was glistening in the sky , and when the street  devoid of any human presence was lit by the street lights standing there like lone sentries.

The moment after the street light was on

I always enjoy painting through the window just before the sky turns really dark and just after the street light is on.

A glimpse of sunset moment from our door

A quick oil sketch of the sunset moment from our doorway before the shadow of the evening engulfed the view.

Sunny backyard

It was sunny but cold. Setting up my easel on the patio I painted  this view over the hedges.

at dusk

I was sitting by the table when the sun broke out of the clouds with its light  radiating through the trees and hedges. I picked up my pochade box and did this twenty minute  oil sketch.

On a dark night

a quick oil sketch of the window view on a dark and cloudy night

a glimpse over the hedges on a cloudy morning

Looking out of the window , I caught a glimpse of the wooded spot over our hedges along the driveway, and I decided to paint this quick oil sketch.

The sunrise moment viewed through the window

A quick oil sketch of the sunrise moment early in the morning when a lady walking her dog came into my view on this sunny but cold winter morning.

Towards sunset

A quick oil sketch from our backyard before supper. It was getting cold , and an overnight snow fall had added a fresh blanket of snow on the ground.

A view of Down town Brandon at night

Painted this view from the window of drawing studio of Art Gallery of South Western Manitoba tonight as a painting demonstration for my painting class.

Same view with different mood today

Painted the same view looking out of the window before supper. A totally different mood today as compared to that of yesterday.

A glimpse of the back alley on Balmoral Bay

A quick oil sketch of the back alley around noon

Morning light

Nothing could be more exciting to paint than the early morning light viewed from our front door step .

From our backyard

Felt so warm standing in the sun painting this view from our backyard. Felt as if spring were around the corner.

The moment when the street light was on

Tried to capture the moment when the street light was on and the sky was not yet giving way to total darkness.

In the warm and intense afternoon sunlight

Turned my easel around, and did one more oil sketch of Balmoral Bay looking south early in the afternoon.

Balmoral Bay on a hoar frosty morning

Came  right back to the street to paint again when the sun came out of the clouds transfiguring everything in sight from something mundane to something heavenly.

Our house on a cloudy and hoarfrosty morning

It was a hoar-frosty morning with diffused light. Standing across the street I painted this oil sketch and finished it before  the sun came out again.

A glimpse into the backyard

A quick oil sketch from the side of our house where  the last light was on the hedges while  the shadow of the house started to swallow the whole backyard.

In the late afternoon sunlight

Looking from our doorway, I did one more quick oil sketch. The soft and warm wash of late afternoon sunlight was on the houses across the street while the casting shadow of our house was creeping up.

Strolling in the light at noon

Again from the window, I did one more oil sketch of the light and colour around noon hours when the light was glaring off the snow.

In the first morning light

After suffering from another migraine attack for a day, I felt better this morning especially when I pulled up the curtain, and saw the first morning light through the window.

Tender is the night

Using a flash light , I did a quick oil sketch from our front yard when both the street light and our porch light were on.

Nature has its own romantic moment

Set up my ease in our backyard after supper chasing the light and colour before the view in front of me vanishes in the shadow.

before the chasing shadow

A quick oil sketch before the sunny window view giving way to   the chasing shadow.

Light and shadow in the evening

Always drawn to the window at this time of the day looking at the quiet street under the street light where the long casting shadows from the trees and bushes stretching gracefully    across the snow covered ground.

Light and shadow at noon

It was getting warm enough to allow me to paint outdoor again. Stepped outside to be dazzled by the intense light at noon , and did this view again trying to keep the impression of light and colour fresh.

A window view early in the morning

A serene and quiet winter morning when the bright sunlight at early morning hour belies how extremely cold it was outside!

Moon in the morning sky

Early in the morning, the moon remained in the sky shining brightly when the early morning   sunlight started to tinge everything in sight with its warm hues.
A quick oil sketch at the dinner table over my morning cup of coffee at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Another window view at 4 p.m.

One more quick oil sketch for today before supper when I looked out of the bedroom window.

At noon hours before heading back to work

Trying to finish one more pochade sketch looking  through the window before heading back to work.

A sunrise moment from our bedroom window

At dawn when the sun was about to rise. Looking out of the window, did this quick oil sketch before getting ready to attend a funeral.

In the starry light

Braving the cold, I did this quick oil sketch of our house in the starry light,  using a flash light outdoor before my hands and feet got numb with biting cold. 30 degree  Celsius below zero !

A sunset moment

A moment at dusk  and  a glimpse into our backyard through the window. Again a quick oil sketch.

A corner of our backyard

Tried to capture the last light of the day receding from our backyard on a cold winter afternoon.

In the full moon light

I just could not resist the seducing power of the crystal clear light of the full moon. Standing by the window , I set up my French easel tonight and painted this window view at 8 p.m.

Back to my cosy spot

Painted again from this quiet spot behind our hedges. It was cold and windy , and my hands were numb with cold after half an hour of painting.

Full moon glistening in the sky

Did not feel well and stayed in bed after work. Woke up to find the full moon glistening in the sky through the window. After some food , I did this quick oil sketch again by the window.

Approaching full moon

A glimpse out of the window, I saw the full moon in the sky. Grabbing my pochade box and sitting by the window, I did this quick oil sketch.

Our house against setting sunlight

a quick oil sketch of our house against setting sunlight.

A heritage house on 11th and Louise of Brandon

It was indeed a spring like weather when I started to paint on this location when the melting snow on the street shimmered in the warm sun.

Brandon University Clark Hall

A beautiful morning on Brandon University campus when the full morning sunlight was on the facade of the original building and Clark Hall with the big spruce trees casting their long shadows across the ground.

On a hoarfrost morning

Woke up to a hoarfrost morning when the branches of trees are laced with ice crystals and they glared in the morning sunlight. It was so beautiful. I hurried outside with my easel and painted away trying to capture the rare and fleeting  moment.

Looking across Assiniboine River from Dinsdale Park

Finally I found myself standing alone on the bank of Assiniboine River at Dinsdale Park. I had not been back on this location for long due to busy daily life. Now with the warm sunlight beaming down my back , with the warm gentle soft breeze from the river caressing  my face, I brushed  away at my easel losing myself in the joy of painting this familiar view.

On a warm sunny bright morning

Nothing could cheer me more than the sight of this sunny bright morning when every thing outside was bathed in the warm wash of springlike sunshine.

a glimpse into the dark night

Suddenly the overwhelming sense of thick darkness was dissipated when the street light  pieced through the night armour , and when the young lady in red walking her dog sailed into my view.

In the last light on a warm winter afternoon

It was very late in the afternoon  when I started my second oil sketch from our backyard. There is always a sense of peace and serenity whenever I look at the sunset sky at this time of the day.
