Groves of junipers backlit by afternoon sunlight

Junipers with that small tree was so brightly back lit by afternoon sunlight. Sketched this in oils around 4 in the afternoon.

Looking across the street

Came back from work at 10 and all at once I started to sketch away in watercolor from my driveway. The sun was shining brightly today. What a contrast to the weather from yesterday.

A quiet corner

Cold, rainy and windy when I took my easel to the back alley to do this oil sketch around supper time.

A glimpse from our doorway

It was cold, raining heavily with strong gust of wind when I was sitting at the doorway sketching in watercolor.

It was sunshine briefly towards late afternoon. Sitting in our hallway I sketched in oils a glimpse out of the open door.

Woke up to a cloudy and drizzling morning. Sitting at the doorway, and looking towards our driveway, I sketched in watercolor what I saw.

Biking instead of drving

With soaring gas price, we tried to bike to work as much as we could now. We bought a bike helmet from Canadian Tire and brought our bike out of years' of neglect and found ourselves enjoying it so much!

A cottage on Clear Lake

After painting at Deep Bay, I drove along Wasagaming Drive and located the cottage its owner wanted me to paint. There were a few couples from Winnipeg staying there for the weekend. I tried to capture the mood of the moment in the afternoon when the cool glimpse of the Clear lake contrasted quite dramatically with the warm view of the trees and the cottage itself.

Deep Bay, Clear Lake

Returned to Clear Lake and painted this view of Deep Bay again. It was very hot but the breeze from the lake was such a relief from the heat.

How they bloom this year the Adelaide Hoodless planted over 5 years ago! Try to capture the vibrant colors before sunlight fades away in the evening.

Another view of the path from Corneallis Cresent to Balmoral Bay

Before it gets too hot in the morning I came to the spot to paint this view from the opposite direction of the path. Notice how fewer trees there are now as compared to from last year.

Blooming iris against dark junipers

Drying our laundry outdoor

It certainly takes less time to paint a picture of the laundry than actually doing it.

Through the window of No.11 Knowlton Drive

Looking out of the window darkness enveloped the evening sky and what remained visible were outline of trees against the dark sky and speckles of light sparkling in the distance.
