Becky Sketching at Green Spots Garden Centre

A quick oil sketch of Becky sketching in water color at Green Spots Garden Centre on the occasion of Art Works Show and Sale. Becky is passionate plein air water colorist as well as a  professional violinist . I had to say sorry to her for not being able to do justice to her due to limited time I had doing this oil sketch of her painting the other artist whose works were also displayed there, and who was taking a picture of me painting Becky at  exactely the same moment!

A house to remember

On a sunny and foggy morning

Sunny and foggy outdoor when I painted this view again in oils. A little bit of hoarfrost on the trees added to the misty look of the view.

A stretch of Assiniboine River in late afternoon sunlight

Drove all the way to Dinsdale Park  after work today to paint at the quiet location. Surrounded with silence and warm air, I did this quick oil sketch before the sun light quickly retreated behind the horizon. The rushing sound of the flow of the river over the broken ice, and the clanking of CN freight cars across the river only added to the tranquility of the scene.

Driveway in the late afternoon on a cloudy day

A pool of water from the melted snow accumulated on the driveway. It is the first sign of the turning of the season.

A view from the east side of the town

It was sunny and warm today. It was so nice to paint at this location which I had not been to for long. It was so quiet here with its silence occasionally broken by the laugh and talk of a few young kids tobogganing down the slope.

A rare glimpse of hoarfrost view from our front yard across the street

It was just beautiful when the sun came out in the afternoon lighting up  the intricacies of branches of the trees laced  with the hoarfrost against an azure blue sky!

Waking up to a fresh morning

It was beautiful to see the hoarfrost lining up the branches of the trees in the morning. Hope it will be sunny today. Then it will be even more beautiful  to see.

Smell of spring?

With  so much moisture in the air I could almost smell a bit of spring. It was wet and cloudy today.

At the opening reception of my art exhibition at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba

The opening reception is very successful! and lots of people show up for the event. I feel so honored to be able to share with people what I have been working on passionately for the last 7 years. It is an occasion for celebration of not my personal accomplishment but the joy and pride of every person who call Brandon his or her home.

Chasing the Vista of Brandon

Here is my E-invitation to all of you who are interested in coming to my art show at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba. The opening reception will be at 7:30 p.m on March 4th. It is really exciting to be able to have this opportunity to have my works exhibited at this public gallery!  I have never expected a day like this would come to me,  and certainly not so when I started the project of painting Brandon on a daily basis almost 7 years ago. Now 7 years  and 7 exhibitions  later,  I have built up a collection  of over 10000 paintings done on location. For more information about this exhibition please go to Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba.

Sign of spring?

I know it is too early to find any sign of spring yet. However, suddenly there stands the row of hedges without snow now, and with the splash of sunlight pouring down I do feel a bit of spring seeping through the window.
