Another window view from the same apartment

Painted another view from a different window from the same apartment building on Willow Dale Crescent in late afternoon when part of the sky clouded over.

A glimpse of a quiet street on a winter afternoon

I drove by the 2nd street in North Hill and stopped there to paint the view of the street which slopes up as many streets do in this part of the town.

A window view

It was just too cold to paint outdoor today. Instead, looking out of our kitchen window I was struck by the view from the window. How the warm color of the red rug on our patio juxtaposed with the cool color of the snow and shadow.

Downtown Brandon

Another extremely cold day! Nevertheless, I decided to drove towards downtown area since it was such a sunny and bright day. It was about 12 o'clock when I found myself driving down 9Th Street north and caught a glimpse of downtown at the junction of Rosser Avenue. Half an hour into painting my hands and feet were numb with cold and had to stop to get into the Art Gallery to warm myself up and also to see how my exhibition had been going on there.

Snow on the hedge

It was extremely cold today with temperature plumbed down to minus 40. I did not venture out even in my car. Instead I sketched the dazzling snow on the hedge in our backyard from Sarah's bedroom window in the afternoon.

Sunset on Balmoral Bay

I really love the shapes and patterns formed by the trees in our front yard against the late afternoon sunlight in the winter season. It was very cold when I sketched this view in oils from my car.

Stopping by Brandon Cemetery on a snowy afternoon

It was a very snowy afternoon when I stopped by the cemetery and sketched this view in oils from my car. Somehow the last scene described in the short story "The Dead" in James Joyce's " Dubliners" came to my mind.

A shed on a back alley on Balmral Bay

It was very sunny and bright outside but cold. I do not know how many times I have painted this view of this back alley right along our house. I was struck by the tranquil mood of this view at this time of the year, and painted it again.

On a snowy Saterday afternoon

This is one of the most impressive houses in Brandon. Located on 14Th Street and Louise Avenue this house is currently owned by Dr. Dector. I remember taking pictures in its front when I first came to Brandon from China 17 years ago! when some international students lived there as tenants. I parked my car on Louise Avenue and painted this picture from inside of my car. It was quite dark and snowy in the afternoon.

Christian Reformed Church

It was very warm today as I drove down 14Th Street north in the afternoon. Snow started to melt and I came to the junction of 14Th and Victoria Ave painting the view of the church standing on the corner.

A pond of heavenly delight

This painting is created as a donation for the art auction event which will take place at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba on 29th of Feb. and the theme of the even is called " the Garden of Earthly Delight"

ST AUGUSTINE'S RC CHURCH

On New Year's Day today, I drove down the Lorne Avenue toward east and found myself in front of the church. I stopped and painted this view. It was really cold and my hands and feet were numb with cold after an hour.
