Winter hedges and shadow

Just could not resist the temptation to paint the hedges when I came back from work in the afternoon and saw through the kitchen window the hedges and shadow cast across the snow in our backyard.

Assiniboine River

It was so warm today. I drove to the bank of the river at the Dinsdale Park and painted this view in two hours. It was early in the afternoon when I started it and it really was quite warm and I felt an absolute serenity all around me. Yet after an hour the wind started to blow from the river and I felt rather a chill in the temperature and my hands started to feel numb. I packed up in a hurry.

A glimpse of the wooded spot

It was warm enough again to allow me to paint outdoor today. Yest half an hour into painting I still felt cold enough to stop in a hurry.

A view from our doorway

Early in the morning when I opened the door, the brilliant light just poured into my eyes. I sat down on the last step of our stairway and painted what I saw.

Snow-covered hedges once more

It is finally warm enough to allow me to do some painting outdoor. I painted this view at noon standing on our patio against the dazzling winter sunlight.

A window view

Back to Canada and to the snow-covered landscape, and to the cold arctic weather! Sketched this view from the window on a cold and cloudy day.

My sister

Finally I painted my dear sister who is quite willing enough to let me paint her now after almost 30 years! 30 years ago when I was a teennager and she was just a little girl. I tried to "coerce" her to pose for me so that I could sketch her but she was always so reluctant. That was 30 years agao. For the past 30 years I barely touched any brushes and paint until 2003.

The house across the street

Finally the sun came out! The house across the street looks quite identical to theirs. The previouse owner of the house had moved away but their fond memories stayed with my sister and her family.

Another rainy day

It was raining rather heavily and I had to paint looking through the window on their door.

A glimpse of their neighbourhood on a rainy day

It drizzled all day today and when it stopped I came out to paint again, and again I did not go too far to paint this view of their neibourhood.

A big impressive tree

What an impressive tree across from the street where they live! Sitting on their front lawn I painted a study of the tree caught in the glow of late afternoon sunlight.

My sister's backyard

Looking through their French window, I caught a glimpse of their backyard drenched in the warm afternoon sunlight, and I can feel the warmth of spring already.

My sister's house

Columbus, Indiana where my sister and brother's families live. I came to join them for a family reunion on the occasion of Chinese Luna New Year for it happens that my parents had arrived from China! What a difference a few hours of fly can make. Now I find myself in early spring when it is still 50 degrees below zero back in Prairie Canada ! Painted a view of my sisiter's big house on the very following morning.
