Assiniboine River

It was so warm today. I drove to the bank of the river at the Dinsdale Park and painted this view in two hours. It was early in the afternoon when I started it and it really was quite warm and I felt an absolute serenity all around me. Yet after an hour the wind started to blow from the river and I felt rather a chill in the temperature and my hands started to feel numb. I packed up in a hurry.

Wow, you painted that in *two hours*? That's really nice. I've tried plein aire painting myself, but I don't have the knack for it. I could never train my mind to take in a whole landscape, and then on top of that get the color and light right... I'm much better and drawing tight close-ups of little things like flowers.

Thank you, Sonya, for your comment! Yes, I usually can finish a painting of this dimention in two hours. It is not that big. Just 12"by16". I have been painting en plein air for 4 years now. Weiming
